Stops and Starts… the Power of March

Whew!  Planets going retrograde, planets going direct, daylight savings, and Spring Equinox… just a few of the highlights this month to spur us on and keep us agile in our mental shapeshifting abilities.  If you felt like you took a few punches recently, it’s just part of the terrain we’re all navigating, and you’re not alone.

This weekend’s full moon in Virgo (Sunday, 3/16) with the sun is in Pisces, offers powerful healing through deep awareness and detached observation. The best help we can give ourselves now is to drop all judgment, be proactive in relinquishing the ego’s point of view, and try to see the bigger picture.

March is ushering us forward with a resounding reminder:  we are here to share our visions and talents to contribute to the whole, not to prove our worth.   Whatever you have been unsuccessfully striving to accomplish, wherever you are holding on or have been blocked – put bluntly, if you are willing to let go of the ego’s narcissism and expand your viewpoint, you will be accepting the healing offered from the universal configurations at hand this month.

Don’t let anyone tell you they can’t change, you can’t change, or the world can’t change.  Change is the nature of life itself, and acceptance of our limitation is just an excuse not to try.  The awareness of our thoughts opens a space for conscious choice to disable subconscious conditioned beliefs, and with application, we can transform ourselves and our lives to embody the truth of our capability.

Spring Equinox (3/20) is the balance point of equal amount of light and dark.  By having the courage to recognize our own shadow through the events of the month and the full moon prior, we can heal and join Mother Earth’s balance point to plant new seeds in our collective consciousness from a place of alignment, connection, and unity.

It’s the perfect time to remember our outer smallness and inner greatness.  Nature always helps us see the bigger picture, so if you live in a place where the environment is overridden by the population that inhabits it, consider getting out to places where you can witness the majesty of the sky and the vastness of the Earth.

Contemplate, garden, hike, or just meditate.  Television programs like “Cosmos – A Spacetime Odyssey” (on Fox and National Geographic channels in the U.S.), can also help re-balance our perspective and reconnect us to the wonder and grandeur of our existence.

Whatever the circumstances; look deeply, open widely, and trust completely.  Let your soul help you remember the truth of your existence, and the power of March return you to the absolute knowing of how supported and loved you really are.

2014 – The Beginning

Welcome to a New Year and get ready for lots of shifts.  How you position your Self will determine the direction you will be going, and this month’s blog is about just that.  I see two predominant themes for the year:  individually, it’s about listening; and collectively, the message is collaboration.

Let’s start with listening.  As we continue to courageously detach from the beliefs and values that can no longer sustain us, we often find ourselves in the void space of creation.  Rather than reacting in fear, we are learning to tread the waters of the unknown (and even embrace them) as we reexamine our inner truth and reflect on the possibilities.  In order to realize the changes we envision for ourselves and the world, we will be required to move into conviction, so it’s paramount that we listen within to get clear about what our truth is.

As we strengthen our conviction, we become more available for the cosmic positioning that will enable the manifestation of the higher good we envision.  There are no limits here.  This is the time to choose where you will place greater emphasis in the identification of your Self:  as a mortal body bound by the limitations of the physical realm, or an infinite Spiritual being with unlimited potential and resource.  What you believe is what your experience will ultimately be, and what you create will be the expression of that choice.

Collectively, we are moving into collaboration.  The span of my career has allowed me the the privilege of working with thousands of people from all parts of the world, and allows me to see the patterns of our change in consciousness.  The inner growth we’ve worked so hard to achieve is now reflected in all we are a part of, and a divine synchronization is bringing us together to create anew.

This year has already revealed a surge of new pairings of soul partners, many who are in their fifties.  I’ve also met young people that may not recognize themselves yet, but are so advanced within, they are clearly the spiritual leaders of their peers and families.  Our attentive inner alertness will be the guide to assure we are in the right place at the right time for these links to effortlessly continue, and our willingness to collaborate will further the promise of our future.

Here are some suggestions to support you in receiving and contributing to a year of miraculous blessings:

Replace New Year’s resolutions with Mantra Words

Choose the words that describe how you want to identify your Self or be.  Focus on the qualities that would be a transformation of your weakness.  Remove all judgments, knowing that the happier you are, the more you can contribute to the world.  Examples might be:  capable, resilient, forgiving, happy, healthy, trusting, successful, worthy, respectful, knowing, free, loved, willing, compassionate, etc.

You can apply these words to the “I Am” exercise in my last blog (a powerful way to transform the subconscious), put them on an altar, read them in bed at night, meditate on them, and/or remind yourself of them frequently throughout the day.

Time in Nature

Mother Earth is our true mother while we are in the physical.  She teaches us everything we need to know about birth, death, regeneration, and the cyclical nature of life.  Spending time with Her stimulates reflection, diminishes unconscious mental racing, brings forth our inner rhythm and timing, and promotes outer harmony.

We are also entering the Chinese year of the Horse this month, and the element relating to this sign is green wood, which speaks of greenery and nature.  Take walks, observe Her magnificence to see your own, share your thoughts and emotions out loud, and stop to pray.  She will inspire and instruct, and you will hear your Self more clearly.

Cultivate your spiritual connection

Meditate, pray, tone or chant

Create an altar as a place to surrender that which you need help with, or wish to transform

Use the service of a spiritual counselor or healer

Attend workshops, lectures, or retreats

Imagining Our Dreams

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.  He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings.  In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness.  If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be.  Now put the foundations under them.”  – Henry Thoreau

I can’t think of a better description of our purpose now.  As we face the traditions of the holiday season and all that comes with it, momentum is building and we are collectively experiencing the labor pains of growth and new creation.

An acceleration is occurring that is wreaking havoc on our nervous systems, testing our belief in ourselves, stimulating our desire to escape, and tempting us to give in to the overwhelm.  Surprises and unpredictable events are likely to continue and we’re more sensitized by our need for security.

This universal orchestration is perfectly designed to push us into finding our inner strength and resiliency, instead of relying on outer facades and illusions as our safety.  With the astrological configurations taking place between now and the beginning of the new year, it can feel like a scramble for even the most ardent spiritual student.

Remember that whatever is coming forth as a challenge, from within or without, is for you to become empowered to create it differently.  Here is a helpful technique for using your imagination to reprogram your subconscious, and enable you to do just that:

Create an “I Am” to describe how you want to be in any situation you are fearing or in discomfort about:  “I am strong.”  “I am at peace.”  “I am safe.”  “I am rich.”  “I am healthy.”  “I am happy.”  “I am respected.”  “I am loved.”  “I am capable.”  “I am resilient.”  “I am valued.”  “I am resourceful.”

Take time to envision your “I Am” statement until you can feel the emotions that accompany that state of being.  Let the stories continue to expand as you envision your “I Am” truth.  Stay with it as long as you can, even if it’s just seconds or minutes.  Notice how you feel and how your reality has changed when you are done.

You can do the “I Am” list every morning upon waking, every evening before sleeping, and every time you have a negative feeling or thought.  Once your subconscious is reprogrammed, the experiences that match your truths will find their way to you.

Other suggestions during this time:

Be aware of your Self, and take care of your Self (emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually).

Focus on staying centered; create rituals and utilize practices that help you remain conscious and connected (prayer, meditation, the use of an altar, creative expression, reading, writing, music, etc.).

Simplify your schedule each day; re-prioritize based on your awareness of what’s really important and what can wait or be accomplished at a later time.

Set yourself up to skirt temptations to over-do alcohol, caffeine, sugar, or substances; regular exercise you enjoy, time with people who support your higher aspirations, having foods around that are good for you, and some healthy diversions that spark joy.

When you feel uncertain or upset, ask for help to know the truth and express in love.

Forgive (pretty much as often as you breathe!):  yourself, others, and the whole world.

Be courageous enough to follow your truth instead of everyone else.  (It’s why you’re here.)

We are co-creators in this miraculous universe, and as Henry Thoreau wrote, it’s time to commit to laying a new foundation; one that will support the paradigm shifts for the wildest and best dreams we have for ourselves and the world we live in.

Thank you, Everyone…. for joining me this year.  Whether we’ve worked together, are dearest friends, or have never met or spoken, I appreciate you taking the time to read my blogs and connect with me.  You are my family and I wish you joy, love, peace, health, happiness, prosperity, the support you need to live fearlessly, and the unconditional freedom to be your Self.

Blessings of peace and miracles, and see you next year!

Holiday Detox – For the Mind

I learned a valuable lesson about judgment today.  I’d been having a struggle with a business associate that kept repeating itself, despite all my efforts to overcome it.  I thought the conflict existed because of our opposing styles:  I take a direct approach, she’s evasive; I’m a communicator, she holds things in;  I value honesty and forthrightness, she maneuvers covertly… etc.

I’d taken the time over many months, to try to understand her behaviors so I could reach compassion rather than get caught in a web of resentment.  I could see so clearly the increased difficulties her behaviors were causing – not only between us, but in the rest of her life.  I’d walked a fine line with knowing when to speak up and when to step in and take care of what needed to get done.  And I had committed myself to praying for her happiness every single day, and sending her my light and love.

So when the same issue found yet another way to present itself this morning, I followed the trail of my discomfort to what was really bothering me about it, and I discovered the bond that kept our tug of war in play.  Despite all my righteous efforts, I was still judging her.  Even though my tendency to judge has diminished over the years from a river to a trickle, it was enough to trigger the harsher judgment she likely places on herself daily, and it overshadowed all else in our relationship except for the rare moments when we were both sane at the same time.

Now I could take the next step toward liberation.  Because I was aware that the true meaning and gift of our connection was to reflect our judgment so that we could release it, I was able to let it go.  It freed me to embrace her spirit in gratitude for such a profound lesson and, in that moment, the nature of our relationship was transformed.  Even if she doesn’t exhibit any outward change, I can trust that change will come in some manner, because the pattern was interrupted with truth and replaced with love.  The problem I’d been struggling with, became the path to my enlightenment.

We are quickly approaching the year-end holiday season, a time that holds the potential for unlimited triggering of the subconscious.   Buddhist teacher and author, Pema Chodron, fondly refers to this as “shenpa” – a Buddhist term for getting hooked by all the people who trigger us – and the holidays are likened to a “shenpa party”.  Given the intense period of global change and challenge also in our midst, it is clearly a call for us to step up as spiritual practitioners.  As the year closes, what better gift can we give one another than to rid ourselves of the judgments that hinder our progress toward unity?

Here are some meditations that can help detox the mind.  Pick one and use it for several days (or until you receive clarity), spending fifteen minutes or more in silent reflection.  Make notes after each meditation of what comes up for you.  Each mantra or statement can reveal your subconscious underpinnings and open the door to enlightenment.  You can change the form of the question or statement to make it the most powerful for you.  There are also some suggested practices.  Even a few minutes a day spent on any one of these, will make a meaningful difference and a substantial contribution.

Meditations

I let go of my attachment to my body (the physical).

Free me from all my resentments.

Release me from my fears.

Return me to the truth I came here to be.

Help me know unconditional love.

I am wiling to see.  Show me the way.

Practices

Pray for someone’s happiness for 30 days (particularly those you are in conflict with).

Choose someone (personally or globally) who is suffering, and envision them free of that suffering.

Every day, consciously send light and love ahead of you – to everyone on your path.

Express your gratitude.

Express your love.

Eclipse Weekend – Big News!

Greetings Earthlings!  Somehow that just seems right to say as I listen to the winds blowing through the canyon pass of the sloping mountains outside my window on this Halloween eve in Malibu, California…..

Hike2

We have some big news this weekend with a New Moon solar eclipse taking place on Sunday in the sign of Scorpio.  Key astrological configurations from Friday through Sunday make this a significant time to make note of.  As all eclipses are harbingers of change, this one points to a serious blasting of deeply conditioned patterns of belief in our collective subconscious (Scorpio), with the impetus to birth anew (New Moon) beyond our former states of consciousness, particularly survival consciousness.   It’s a journey into the unfamiliar; a ticket to the unknown; a time of unearthly visitations; and the promise of a new way of being and living.  If we stay open and engage in the opportunity to release our minds from the constrictions of outdated beliefs, our lives can be transformed.

Phew!  That’s a lot, but here are some guidelines to make the most of these events:

Stay present, open, and alert.
Let go of everything you think you know.
Be aware of the fears and concerns that come up, because they will point to the belief     systems to renounce.
As your truths emerge from within, stand in conviction and be willing to speak or write of them.
Expand your mind
Journey in the unfamiliar.
Go to the Earth; do ceremony or ritual.  Invite and invoke benevolent assistance.
Write about the misery you no longer wish to experience, and the dreams you do.  Make them unlimited dreams.
Reach for the stars.  Literally.

Here are some personal experiences I’ve had that speak to what’s occurring.  I sensed the need to go for a hike, and was drawn to nearby Solstice Canyon.  With some lower back and knee issues, I only planned on walking in for a mile and then out again.  But when I reached the one mile post, I sat on a rock by the stream, closed my eyes, and asked:  “What would You have me do?”  The response was crystal clear:   “Go up.”  A flock of bright green, wild  parrots flew in, screeching loudly as they swept overhead in a circle three times.  I felt their voltage shoot through me and knew I would have the energy I needed.

I crossed the stream and began climbing upward for over a mile, until I reached a power place where two stunning monolithic slabs of rock lean over the canyon in a protective embrace, and the glorious blue expanse of the Pacific ocean stretches out before you.  I hadn’t been there for four years because I didn’t believe my body could do it anymore.   That belief had been increasingly cornering me, as I imagined all the things I could no longer do.   But when I asked, listened, and heeded the new messages that came to me, my illusions were shattered.  It was an exhilarating experience that carried me to, and left me on…. higher ground.

hike

Simultaneously, as Mercury went retrograde, my work slowed.  I noticed the old standby mental patterns of fear of lack showing up.  As I let them go, I consciously asked for the higher truth and again, heard a clear response that confirmed my provision was untouched by the peril of a world perceived as lacking.  The reassurance I felt was tangible, and as I chose to believe with conviction, the fear disappeared like a ghost evaporating.  Instead of “trying” to do something about the outer circumstances, I chose a new belief and then allowed the Universe to turn things around for me.

hike3

We don’t have to know what the outcome of our willingness and openness will be.  As we shift with the changes at hand, we will bear witness to the astounding beauty of the Great Mystery and ourselves within it.   Can you imagine??  This is the weekend to try!

Post script:  Upon waking this morning (Nov. 1st), I received news from several clients, of deaths of loved ones… and a shooting at LAX this morning has put our city on tactical alert.  As eclipses tend to shake things up and Scorpio is also the sign of death/rebirth, we are witnessing these aspects, as well.  So let us be mindful and prayerful, as we remain hopeful, and move through this eclipse weekend together.

Creating Beyond our Egos

It’s easy to recognize the difficulties we’re facing in our attempts to break ground into new territory.  In the U.S., our government is clearly displaying signs of that struggle in its attempt to launch health care reform, and it’s only one of many issues that countries around the world are striving to transform.  Personally and collectively, our goals don’t seem as easy to achieve as they once were.  So what’s going on?

One of the contributing factors posing a challenge, is the need to make a conscious shift from “I” to “we”; to embrace the perspective of global community.  While on the path of inner transformation and healing, it was important that we looked at our personal wounds and discovered how they were created.  It was crucial to see the patterns of abuse and dysfunction in our families in order to rise above them and free ourselves to live from the awareness of our true potential.  But that was base camp, and now we must climb higher.

Our self absorption and judgment are eroding the truth of our inter-connectedness.  We’ve developed a fervent devotion to attacking ourselves and others (in thought and behavior) in the relentless attempt of our egos to prove that we are, indeed, separate from one another.  How much more evidence do we need to recognize that what we do to another and what we do to this planet, we do to ourselves?  There is no “other”, and there can be no victory in fighting for an illusion!  If it hasn’t become clear by now that our safety cannot be found in the domain of the ego, then we are disregarding the obvious at our own peril.

Perhaps we are struggling to the degree that we are holding onto embedded beliefs that keep us from evolving; that keep us in comparison and competition, always deeming someone less worthy.  For eons of time we have sought control and claimed supremacy, when none of us have the right to declare dominion over anyone or anything.  We share this world together, and we are One in our belonging.

Beyond the egoic nature of our minds, lies the infinite and true nature of who we are.  The power of creation that we recognize outside of us, is within us.  In cultivating the ability to clear ourselves of the toxic waste in our minds and emotions, we are becoming more open as channels for the universal energies that hold all possibility.  As we shift the focus of our self identification from the body/physical to the spirit/infinite, these universal energies can course through us and ignite our abilities to live and create from a higher consciousness.

We are the world we live in.  We can dare to return to the calling in our hearts to be beacons of light and love.  We can courageously clear our judgment and be open channels for inspired possibility.  We can listen to the promptings of our souls and move toward enlightenment.  We can share our creative expression and talents in ways that will reconnect us.   We can create beyond our egos now, by turning our attention to becoming vessels for the highest good of all concerned.

Whatever your path or challenge, it is an opportunity to convert your belief to the unlimited potential of who you can be in that circumstance, moment, or relationship.  There are no limits in the effect you can have, and as we offer ourselves to help the world transform, we are transformed in the process.

One of my beloved teachers, Marianne Williamson, is demonstrating this in spades, by bravely choosing to run for Congress.  If you’d like to be inspired and support her efforts, please visit marianneforcongress.com.  And for further inspiration, check out the HBO documentary “Ethel”, on the life of Ethel Kennedy (ethelthemovie.com).  These women embody a level of service and loyalty to the well-being of humanity that is truly making a global difference.

Be your true Self and bless the world today!

Integration and Assimilation

You may have noticed I haven’t been around for a couple of months – in the blog world, that is.  Occasionally, I enter a cycle when the pull to go inward is so compelling it has to be honored, and I’ve learned the value of allowing it to run its course.  Though I maintain the basics in my work and personal life, I surrender to the wisdom that this is not a time of outward productivity.

It’s not always easy, especially in the beginning of the cycle when I’m not fully aware of its arrival, and am having some resistance.  Or when my mind continuously sends out those “shoulds” that are so generously reinforced by society’s standards.  It’s unfortunate in our American culture, that going within often means going against the grain.

In this regard, it was an advantage to experience life before computers and cell phones existed.  We had the experience of our senses being sharper, and quiet wasn’t something you had to go and find.  There was greater accountability and our communication was more real.  Texts and emails weren’t the bane of our dialogue with one another or used for evasive tactics, and our minds had not yet become addicted to instantaneous response.

Technology and social media have altered and advanced our daily lives so dramatically, that the tendency to slip out of consciousness is hard to avoid.  Given the astounding volume of data and experiences we have to process each day, I’ve come to respect these inward cycles as mandatory time for assimilation and integration.

By allowing periods of lessened activity, we afford ourselves the chance to rest, replenish, and reflect – mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.  In turning our outer focus inward, wisdom and clarity arise that would otherwise be obscured.  Ideas culminate, understanding comes, and often there are “light bulb” moments when transformation is instantaneous.

When we override our internal rhythm and timing, we become out of harmony with the energy of our creation – with the universe itself – and the creation process inherently within us.  The neuroses of our minds then interferes with the life flow that is supporting us, and we get disconnected.  We don’t intend it, but the pain and difficulty of our separation is usually projected onto others.

We can also miss the inner promptings and outer indicators that would not only keep us harmoniously engaged, but easily guide us to our greatest opportunities and fulfillment.  And rather than experience the organic and miraculous nature of life, we create struggle.

As the manager of our own lives, we don’t have to follow the dictates of the outer demands we are conditioned to respond to.  There is nothing on the material plane worth the surrendering of our souls’ purpose to create from love, and we all have the power to shapeshift our lives to reflect that.  The space we create for inner connection will only increase the potential and beauty in our outer realities.

The Cutting Edge of Transformation

I saw a striking image recently, of an Alaskan hunter skinning a freshly killed deer.  Once the slice of his sharpened blade pierced the coat, it peeled away from the flesh in smooth motion as his knife slid across the expanse of the body, the hide cleanly and easily separating from the tender skin it had protected.

It reminded me of the process of our own transformation, as we cut through the surface of our identities and delve into our subconscious to peel away the layers of conditioned facades.  The initial penetration can seem severe, but once we’ve dared the opening to begin the process, the separation from our falseness becomes a more effortless journey.  Our willingness to let go invites the parting.

The privilege of assisting people with transformation, allows me a glimpse of the universal changes we are undergoing collectively, and I’m beginning to see the progress we are making.  Our efforts to discipline our minds and release confining patterns of thought, are resulting in positive changes of behavior and interaction.  Just as a hide is separated from the skin it once joined, our toxic and unsustainable methods are giving way to latent abilities resurfacing from the source of our potential within.

We are remembering.  We are detaching from the entrapment of our past and learning to create anew from the power of the present.  We are mastering techniques to stay the course in the midst of internal or external opposition, while remaining in the consciousness of love.  Our small and daily efforts are chipping away the attack-defend-attack principle long engaged on this planet, and we are making a difference.  In cultivating our inner strength and resiliency, we are beginning to realize the outer successes we are striving for.

Now that we are in a Mercury retrograde phase astrologically (until the latter part of July), we will have opportunities to revisit or complete what has not yet fully transformed or healed.   These experiences can show up in any number of ways, but are likely be revealed through mishaps in communication and timing, old patterns returning, secrets revealed, former relationships coming forth, and seemingly random “accidents” or sudden changes.

Perfect example:  I phoned someone I’ve been dating recently, and somehow the sounds of him enjoying a night out with some very flirtatious sounding companions, had “accidentally” recorded over his voicemail message.  It was no coincidence I had been working on a book about my father at the time, and this perfectly orchestrated synchronicity brought forth an immediate trigger reaction of jealousy and suspicion, followed by the sending of a somewhat caustic email, all of which took place in about three minutes.

Even as I was typing, I could sense my higher self desperately scrambling to find a megaphone for the subtle, but perceivable, voice inside me that was quietly urging, “Nancy, it’s not what you think, don’t do this”.  But the old patterns were too grandiose in their rising to let this enticing morsel slip by without responding in kind.

Within minutes, however, I did listen to that voice.  I was able to quickly recover and then take responsibility with my friend, who was also able to emerge far enough beyond his own punitive reactions of the past, to accept my explanation with understanding.  What could have taken us backwards into the painful perpetuation of old patterns, became progress because of our growth.

It doesn’t serve us to linger in the judgment of our failings as these deceptively harmless situations arise.  It’s far more important to recognize the changes we can make, and not give up.  As I’ve heard Marianne Williamson say many times during her weekly lectures in Los Angeles, “it’s time to focus on the resurrection, not the crucifixion” and “get off the cross, we need the wood”.

It’s time to let the skins of the old associations of ourselves, life, and others, be pared off.  Granted, we are more vulnerable in the exposure, but rather than give in to the discomfort of the unfamiliar, we can focus on the power we have within us to create anew.  The beauty of our authenticity and the brilliance of our possibility in that state of willingness, can illuminate the darkened pathways and lead us directly to our personal fulfillment as well as our collective dreams.

On this cutting edge of transformation, we have the choice to bravely part from our embedded suffering.   By using the opportunities of each and every day to renounce our fears and courageously create from love, we are realizing our personal transformation and contributing to a historic, collective change in consciousness that can potentially resolve the discrepancies of lack and disharmony on this planet.  Our purpose is nothing less and the possibilities are everything more.

Transforming Mother’s Day – Honoring the Sacred Feminine

Mother’s Day can be a wonderful celebration of our mothers, whether they are alive or have passed; and it can also be a day of honoring our authentic experience, and offering reverence for the aspects of the sacred feminine in all the forms it takes, including Mother Earth.

As outdated as many of our holidays are, they shine a light on our collective consciousness and offer significant opportunity for growth, even through the challenges they bring.  Challenges, because of society’s imprints on our beliefs and expectations, and because of the triggers that family dynamics typically provoke.

Personally, the memory of my mother brings sadness more than joy.  For reasons I can only forgive, she wasn’t able to provide a mother’s love for me in the ways it really mattered.  So even as a mature woman, Mother’s Day can create stirrings around that loss, and remind me of the journey it’s taken to find peace and acceptance.

And what about the difficulty of being a mother?  There are countless women who feel enormous guilt and regret on a daily basis about themselves as a parent; or for not having the chance to be one.  Along with the flowers, cards, and gifts their loved ones bestow (or in the absence of them), wouldn’t it be wonderful if they took a quiet moment in private to honor their path, ask for help from Spirit, and offer themselves forgiveness?

Today, my acknowledgment of Mother’s Day began with honoring my Self (something women my age are trained not to do).  I allowed my feelings to surface and reflected on them.  I remembered I could not know my mother’s experience, and sent heartfelt gratitude to her.  Having no children myself, I acknowledged the generous and selfless nurturing I’ve provided others; in my service and relationships.  And I worked in my garden:  weeding, watering, and clipping the dead leaves and flowers so the plants could flourish.  As I did, I felt the most exquisitely tender caring, and gratitude, for Mother Earth.  And Her immediate and loving response was so palpable, it warmed my heart and tingled in my soul.

The return to the value of the feminine is critical for life on this planet, and today we can create experiences that demonstrate our awareness of the power of creation and the necessity to nurture life, not destroy it.  We can celebrate and give thanks for our mothers, and we can include ourselves, and all who nurture and provide the love and care that allows the human spirit to thrive – whether man or woman.  Today we can open our hearts and give thanks for the lives we’ve been given, and the limitless love we can give.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Eclipse Zone Update – Weather changes

I forgot to mention in my last blog, that with one of the three eclipses taking place in the sign of Taurus (New Moon solar eclipse May 9th), there is likelihood of a strong impact on our environment.

In southern California near Malibu, where I live, there are fires raging which were spread by incredibly forceful winds whipping through the canyons all day yesterday.  A small earthquake occurred Thursday evening, and we’ve been in record breaking high temperatures.  Meanwhile, the midwest is undergoing historic snowstorms, so there is clearly wild fluctuation taking place in our weather patterns.

It’s a good reminder that Mother Earth is simultaneously going through the changes inspired by the eclipses, and we are in this together.  She teaches us to respect our inter-connectedness with all life and how to work with forces greater than ourselves.  And She reflects our Oneness through the experiences we all share in living upon Her.

I received an email from a neighbor this morning, who was alarmed about the encroaching fires and had been watching them on television all through the night.  It was like opening an invitation to attend a fear party.  My internal wisdom was crystal clear there was nothing to worry about, though I did check the media to be informed.  As I sat on my patio, I observed a huge hawk that came to perch on a telephone pole, and I knew the animals would reveal any upcoming signs of potential danger.  Sure enough, the winds calmed and changed direction, greatly diminishing the fire’s movement toward us.

This is not to ignore the destruction that is occurring.  It’s to say we do not need to fuel it with our fear.  It’s to say we can command our minds to invoke miracles for every situation upon us.  This is an honoring time; a time of reverence and respect for the greater forces in motion, and for one another.  We can trust that the internal and external changes initiated by the eclipses, are for the good of the greater mind/body collective we are a part of.  Rather than react from fear to the circumstances that threaten us, we can use them to cultivate our ability to stay present, alert, and responsive.  We will surely be guided, and guided surely, if we seek the truth and listen within.
